Gersh Driver Education Program Regulations
Classes take place at the below campuses:
Hauppauge: 358 Hoffman Lane, Hauppauge, NY 11788
West Hempstead: 307 Eagle Ave, West Hempstead, NY 11552
Who is Eligible?
The program is open to all Public, Private and Parochial High School Students. Students are eligible who are 16 and up and is open to all abilities.
Scheduling is done on a first-come first-serve basis. Early registration results in a choice of schedule. Please know that car and lecture assignments are subject to change, but will remain within the times selected.
Scheduling with Friends
Scheduling with friends is always a plus, but not guaranteed. However, we will try to accommodate if possible. If you are trying to schedule with friends, please try to register everyone at the same time. In addition, please send an email with all names to be in the same car to: email@example.com. Confirmation must be received to ensure request.
There will be no changes to the roster after (1) week prior to the session starting as schedules are already set.
Absentee and Make-up Policy
Make up classes are divided into 2 parts: Lecture teacher and in-car instruction. All missed classes both driving and classroom must be made up within the session in which the applicant is enrolled. There is a $25 processing fee (NOT applicable to West Hempstead) when you miss ANY scheduled driving portion of your assigned time no matter how or when it is made up. If a student is taking the SAT, PSAT OR ACT, the $25.00 fee will be waived for (1) test only. NOT all. There is a maximum of 4 absences for Hauppauge and 2 for West Hempstead allowed. Failure to make up classes, or if more than 3 consecutive classes are missed, may constitute a drop and/or failure. All missed Driving and Lectures must be made up.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
Anyone caught in class (Lecture or Car) under the influence will be dropped from the class immediately and no refund will be given. An investigation will take place for any reported issue.
How much does it cost?
Tuition is subject to change as inflation affects insurance, gasoline, and teacher's salaries.
Checks are payable to Gersh Academy or for online payments; Visa, Mastercard or Discover are accepted. A deposit of $100 must accompany your application. This will secure your seat. The full balance is to be paid no later than 2 weeks prior to the session starting.

There will be no deposit refund granted for withdrawal after one week before the first day of the course. In the event of withdrawal prior to that a $25 cancellation fee will be charged. Telephone cancelations cannot be honored. Refund requests must be made in person or received by mail one week prior to the start of the course. After the start of the program there is no Refund.
